Clothing factory blocks workers after minimum wage strike
About 60 workers at a clothing company in Qalyubia governorate held a strike to demand implementation of minimum wage. In response, the company's management prevented the striking workers from entering the factory and imposed a mandatory week-long leave. Additionally, approximately 240 other workers were referred for investigation related to the strike.
Academy workers stage second protest demanding minimum wage implementation
Approximately 300 workers at Modern Academy for Engineering and Technology in Cairo held a second day of protest demanding implementation of minimum wage and halting of annual raises and bonuses. Workers stated they had presented their demands to management multiple times without response. One protesting employee earns 5,300 Egyptian pounds monthly.
